Feeling like a kid again

Family Night - the kids are always excited. We are always looking for fun and different ideas. Derek and Jake found SLIDING ROCK while they were out on a mountain bike ride. What a hoot!! It is so much fun!! And the cool thing is it's right in our backyard...only 3 miles away. You drive out, park, then hike an easy mile up and there is this beautiful waterfall rock slide. It's totally natural and incredibly FUN!! I screamed the entire slide down. First, because it is so slippery steep and second, because the water is SO TERRIBLY COLD. But, the freezing water makes it even that much more crazier. I felt twelve all over again. Sara and Madi even did it. Jake gets the sore bum award for bouncing from one rock to the other. Derek wins for submerging completing underwater at the end of the slide. I tried at all costs just to keep my head up and get out fast while I could still feel my feet. Okay, so I thought when I saw it that I would maybe try it once. Well...I ended up going three times.
Thanks Derek and Jake for such a great family night plan. An awesome way to end a hot August day.

Watch out BYU, here she comes!!

With tears of excitement, joy and meloncholy Derek and I left our oldest child at BYU Wed night. Kayli's room is decorated so cute and there is so much enthusiam all around. I think we may have overwhelmed her a little bit with just the text department in the bookstore. And if that wasn't enough, the parent tour around campus full of stories and memories from both of her alumni parents would do the trick. We will really miss her at home but, we can't wait to hear about all her fun adventures at the "Y".

20 years - Happy Anniversary!!

It doesn't seem possible that Derek and I have been married for 20 years. Whew!! So many wonderful events have taken place in my life as a result to a choice I made back in 1989. The day was sweet. It rained the night before but our wedding day was sunny and clear. During our reception we could even see a lunar eclipse. We thought that made the day even that much more significant.

Engagement/Wedding Announcement Picture
We watched our wedding video today and looked at photos with our kids. Sara colored cards for us in church and we just enjoyed being together with our family. Derek took me out to Christopher's Steakhouse the night before.

With school starting and just returning from three weeks of summer trips, we decided to celebrate our Anniversary a few months later. So, we just set up a trip to Grand Turks and Caicos for November. I am really looking forward to spending time there...just the two of us.

How did I get soooo LUCKY?! 20 Years ago I married my best friend. And life just continues to get better.
Derek, thanks for being all that you are and for loving me like you do. I never dreamed I could always be so happy and have such a wonderful and fulfilled life.:)

BEAR LAKE & SNOWBIRD - Bring on the Fun!

These are two awesome trips we look forward to each year. At eighteen, I joined Derek's family one summer in Bear Lake and the tradition has continued ever since. Thanks to Grandma & Grandpa Barber - we all have the greatest time.

SNOWBIRD ROCKS!! We hike the tram and Cecret Lake, create tie die shirts, hunt for Easter eggs, swim in the pool, enjoy a girls lunch, build amazing forts, play at the park, and exhaust ourselves through all-day activity passes. It's pure fun in creating memories with family who live so far away. Thanks to Derek's Mom and Dad for bringing everyone together for good times!!
