Commercial Superstar!

Yeah! I just received a copy of this...

Sara was so anxious to see how it turned out. We were hoping to catch the real thing on TV, but the fact is that we just don't watch a lot of TV.  Also, it is so fun to have our own copy that we can enjoy over and over again. Great interview - what a girl!

Russian Easter Eggs

I have a very talented friend who graciously shared with our beehive class one of her family's Easter Traditions.
Making Russian Easter Eggs is something I have wanted to try for a long time. A few years ago some of my kids had the privilege of making these wonderful eggs. It takes a bit of time and lots of patience. I'm amazed at how well these beehives did.
Sara has done this before, but she was very happy to try again this year. Notice the egg in the candle flame...melting off the extra wax. This one is finished.
The process:
Remove wax from store bought eggs by soaking in a mixture of vinegar water and rubbing off wax
Draw a design in pencil
Add first layer of wax to the egg
Dip in color dyes
Second drawing of wax to the eggs
Dip again in color dye
Melt excess wax off egg
Spray eggs to give a glossy finish

Our finished eggs:

leprechaun house

While I was gone all day Saturday, Sara created this all on her own with a sign that said:
Come in and eat and have lots of FUN!
...and the next day, Sara found some of the food was gone and a gold coin was left from her little friend.
HAPPY Leprechaun Day!!

More Birthday Celebration!

After her Dad assembled it, Sara takes off for her first ride on her brand new scooter!  A perfect spring day...Sara rode and rode until the scooter needed to be recharged. Dutifully she plugged it in and a few hours later she was riding again -- Such a happy girl!

Jarrett, Jenna, Grandma and Grandpa came to celebrate her special day with us too.
She was thrilled about her new purple shirt from Grandma and Grandpa Butters! Purple still is Sara's favorite color.
"Happy Birthday, Dear Sara..."
She will definitely get her wish!
Well, maybe she already has...

Early Birthday Fun ~

We had tons of fun at Planet Play for an early birthday celebration for Sara. Every other year I do a friend party for my kids. This year is a family year...and Sara was thrilled to have a few cousins join her.
The all you can eat pasta, pizza, salad, ice cream, dessert bar is always a big hit from the moment we walk in the door to when we leave... and many many times in between.
Then it was off to enjoy all the many activities...like bumper cars, Laser tag (the girls loved this one the most), mini bowling, go carts and glow in the dark mini golf.
One of my favs - SkeeBall
Nothings better than finishing off a great night with Cherry Slushies!

Jazz Reading comes to an end...

This little lady ended up being the second top reader out of the entire school - AWESOME!! This reading business was taken very seriously.
Of course, one of the biggest highlights of being a top reader is getting to sit on the stage at the Jazz player assembly.  You can tell how happy these girls are.
Earl Watson was the Jazz player that celebrated with the school this year. There is so much enthusiasm at this assembly you almost feel like you are really at a Jazz Basketball game.
The question and answer part is always exciting, especially to see what unique questions the kids come up with.
Sara and her friend Brianna stayed afterschool countless days before the reading contest even started to help make signs and banners. They loved being apart of this whole experience. Thanks Mr. Shirley for including these girls from the very beginning.
