Hiking up around the red rocks has always been an Easter
weekend tradition. Jake discoved crack canyon last month with his friends. You hike in between the two steep rock walls and the squeeze
is extremely tight. I went partway and then opted to be the photographer fom the top. I might try this if I could do it alone
with no one for sure behind me. I
don’t like feeling trapped in small spaces. I wish my camera would have
focused a little better on the people but somehow it focused more on the rocks.

Sara's school play - Old Glory Grows Up
The Fifth grade class shared the history of our nations flag last Thursday. It was so exciting to see the production of all their hard work.
Sara wore a patriotic hat as she was chosen to be one of the narrators in the play. She presented her part perfectly and with a great big smile. So proud of that girl of mine!
They sang some of my favorite songs...50 Nifty United States...O beautiful for spacious skies...This land is your land...You're a grand old flag...
They're coming to America, they're coming to America...Today. Great actions and enthusiasm to go with each song.
Grandma Judith and Haley came out in the morning and then Derek was able to see it during the evening. Haley will now be living in Utah. It was so great to see her. Thanks for coming!

Dance Day at BYU
Mrs. Leonard had extra passes for the upcoming dance company girls to go spend the day down at BYU. Excitement was in the air as I dropped Madi off this morning. They loaded buses and headed out at 8:15am.
You can tell by this picture that these girls had a fun day together! Kind of a small world...The girl just left of Madi is the daughter of a guy I dated in high school (before I met Derek, of course).

Visit w/Kayli & Pretzels
We met Kayli in between work and school for lunch at University Mall. Brooke snuck in the picture just as it was being taken... she cracks us all up!
Brooke, Megan, Kayli, Emilee by the treehouse
Making Auntie Annie's Pretzels - These are just as good as the ones at the Mall.
Fresh and warm right out of the oven...you can tell a variety of hands twisted these.
Time to enjoy with butter & salt or cinnamon & sugar.

Ohio cousins come to play...heading for Arizona
We picked them up at the airport, went right to lunch and got ice cream for dessert.
On their way to Arizona...between one house being sold and the other house being ready...my sister Kim and her girls came to stay with us. They will travel down to AZ later this week.
Sara gladly took the day off of school today to spend time with her cousins. They rode to the park and all around the block.

Three Girls on One Scooter!

Brooke is a Madi admirer. She asks about her constantly while she is at school and tells her how much she misses her when she walks in the door.
Here she is pulling Madi to go jump on the Framplene

Leprechauns? I don't think so.
They are naughty critters, behaving like little robbers...knocking everything over. Ransacking the porch and leaving dirty little paw prints on everything they touch. This was what we woke up to a few mornings ago...
The next night I told Alli to put the bucket lid on tighter. She said it's okay if it's on, but not clamped down. The next morning we found the food bucket pushed off the edge of the table so that the bucket would pop open. It worked and the raccoons had their feast. (didn't get a photo of this one)
So, the next night (we are getting smarter) we clamped the bucket down so the only way you could get it open was to use the tool attached to the side. When we checked the next morning here is where we found the bucket. Pushed over all the way to the end of the deck and rolled down the stairs...
Realizing that they can still smell the food, we have now we gone to plan C - Keeping the bucket inside at night. So the raccoon adventure is over for now.
The cat bed tipped over and the rug and lid pulled off. Thank goodness the cat escaped. Looking for food is their quest and they are very clever. With the lid on the ground, I'm sure they got as much food as they could ever want.

Happy St. Patrick's Day
We have a very fun Dad who brought home this Leprechaun Bread. He hid it in the top cupboard and told me to make Friday's lunches with it. I got up extra early to make the sandwiches so that no one would see the surprise. The comments after school were quite comical...from kids telling Jake that he shouldn't eat his sandwich because it was very moldy to Sara's friends saying, "what a cool lunch."
Today, Sara wanted a grilled green panini...Something that is just so GREEN can't possibly taste the same!
