Kelly's Here - It's time to play and play and play...

Kelly was able to sleepover Friday night until Steve came and picked her up on Saturday.  Sara and Madi were so excited to have her come play even if it was a really quick stay.  They all made the best of their time together in playing lots of barbies, playing outside (we have the greatest Fall weather) and making a "designing scrapbook".  You should see their creativity.  I love what girls this age decide to do.
Kelly and Sara both love pancakes with Nutella (chocolate butter).  The two of them figured this out this summer at Snowbird.
Kelly brought her hairnets that she saved from the cannery; Sara and her loved taking crazy photo shots in them.

More pretend games outside!  So fun to have your cousin come from Illinois.  Thanks Kelly for spending part of your trip with us!

Saturday Night Football

Before the big game, we met Kayli and her roommate Asia at the new Cafe Paesan (cafe rio-italian style). So delicious! We didn't know then that this would be the better part of the night.
Then it was off to the stadium with all the other enthusiastic fans.  First home game of the year. Love seeing all this BLUE!

especially this one...
Everyone stood and sang "The Star Spangled Banner"
These pics were all taken before the BYU/Utah game started.  See how happy we were?  Morale was high. That was not the case for most of the rest of the game.  I was SO stressed.  I really don't like when these two teams play each other.  Way, way, way too much rivalry.  The outcome was tragic. Too bad certain members of my family will bring up this game for a very long time.  The U's game was on.  BYU was struggling.  The score was very sad.  Oh, and it didn't help that BYU scored points for the U too.
Here's hoping the next game will be better, because I don't think it could get much worse. :(

Digging for an answer...

It was amazing to see how quickly Jake responded to my text "you have a special delivery here".  Within minutes he was running through the backdoor.   These last few weeks have been so fun for these guys in coming up with creative ways to ask and then seeing the cute ways of how they are answered. Homecoming will soon be here.
Each cupcake was dissected and a tiny piece of the answer was retrieved. Very tricky!
 And the answer is...

Bear Lake w/the Bartons

It seems we can never get enough of this gorgeous lake.  We crave beach time living in Utah and this is just good enough for us.
...love love this guy!
me, courtney, my sister tina
I love Bear Lake...love spending time with family...and love that it's less than 3 hours away.
The cutest beach towell fort ever...
Jensen and Jake on the edge of the shore...look how close the playground and pool are.  We're so happy about this new water level.
A little (aftersun) back massage is always well accepted when you can give one and recieve one all at the same time.  Back in the condo we watched movies, played card games, ate yummy food and just relaxed.
- Famous Raspberry Shakes -
Ahhh, the nice cool grass!  We played frisbee, miniature golf and bocce ball.
On Sunday, we had a sand castle building contest - The guys built a village with a power plant and farm...wish you could see the intricate details.
The younger girls built a palace barn with a horse corral and a car.
The teenage girls built the city of New York - complete with the Empire State Building, Yankee Stadium, and the Brooklyn Bridge (in front).
The pre-teens made a complex maze, but they didn't quite get to finish.
Not too soon after, they decided to destroy each others creations...Alli and Makell got the first throw.
Jake (standing on the power plant) and Jensen went next.  For some reason, this part is always a lot more fun than building.
a little lawn gymnastics...
Woohoo!! Alli get's air on the wakeboard.  She has been trying to attempt this for a long time. Way to go, girlie!
Yay, so glad we could make one more trip up here before summer ends.

a new TOY

Many hours have been spent looking for a small truck that Jake could drive to school, swim team, work, etc.
The purchasing was quick when Derek and Jake knew they had found the right one.
The girls were also excited!  Everyone wanted to help with washing and cleaning inside and out.
Even a couple of Jakes friends came over to admire and wash windows.
He loves the vintage look.  It's pretty cool in the eyes of his friends too.  Another great point is that it's a stick shift.  Jake is really liking that feature and feels that it makes driving a lot more fun.
Happy Driving - Be Safe...

Delightful Days in August

Derek and I spent an anniversary dinner up at the legendary "Ruth's Diner".  The weather was perfect and we enjoyed sitting on the back patio and listening to the live band outside.
After the dentist and NO cavities we had to stop by Sub Zero ice cream.  What a great idea... icecream made right on the spot anyway you like it by liquid nitrogen freeze.
Some of the guys gather at our house for icecream and hanging out after the football game.
The first Lone Peak game of the season was played against Davis.  We went up to Farmington to cheer on the Knights, but even more to see my darling niece Makell cheer!
My cute parents stayed with us and went to their 50th high school reunion.  They were both from Olympus High class of '61. Wow!
Madi, Kelsey and Britney - Making fun hair accessories.

Movie night

All it takes is a few great friends, a bunch of treats and drinks to add to a good outdoor movie.
Summer has been so busy and this is the first time we have been able to do this.  It's been on our to-do-list of "Summer Activities" since May.  Finally, we were able to fit it in the weekend before school started.
Hooray for one last summer late night!
