Celebrate!!

March Birthday Girls - Sara and Grandma both have birthdays this month.
Kayli, Jake, Jarrett, Brennen, Roger, Kristina, Judith.
Roger just received his mission call this week so he got to eat on the Celebrate plate.  Judith enjoyed a grand birthday...so she got the You Are Special plate. So fun to celebrate these great events with family and friends.
Judith makes THE BEST carrot cake I have ever tasted.  It is sooo moist and has the best flavor.  Thanks for making your cake for us all to enjoy.  We had fun singing happy birthday to you.
While talking about birthdays...Kayli and Roger found out they are twins...who would have thought?...born on the same day, same month, same year...only a few hours apart.  And don't they look so much alike?
after dinner, we played pictionary...

visited and talked on skype to Tony in Taiwan and Jenna in California.
Alli was happy to be the recipient of a back massage from Grandpa.
more pictionary...
and discussing Jake's Chinese class.
"Seventy" cinnamon bears for one very special lady who we all love and adore.
Happy Birthday, Grandma/Mom Judith!!

the answer...

Jake came home to a room full of balloons, glitter and confetti.  Good thing I've been telling him to keep his room clean because you just never know...
He threw all the balloons into the hallway so that the pieces inside woudn't get lost in the confetti.  Good idea.  He started jumping on each balloon which was taking too long, so he got a pin, lined 'em up quickly and had them popped within seconds.

This puzzle was a tricky one (3-d hologram)... the image would change on each piece depending on how you held the piece.
And the answer is...

So nice that Jake has the support of his sisters.  Madi knew just what to do with all that confetti.
 Good Times!

BYU Basketball Parties!

BYU wins and makes it to the sweet 16!  You wouldn't even believe the excitement & adrenaline going on in this house.  The men had a hard time even sitting down. Last Thurs, we hoped to recreate the same atmosphere as the Saturday before...but, sadly BYU lost.  The party was fun, but not quite as fun as when they win.

"Let Freedom Ring" & The Grand Concert

If you're needing some extra patriotism, you should have heard these 120 - 5th graders.  They knew every song so well from "Your a Grand Old Flag to Fifty Nifty United States".  I have to say, this is probably my favorite play that the kids do in elementary school.  I love the history of America and the sacrifices that were made for our freedom.  Madi and some of her friends represented the state of Kentucky.

The Grand Concert is always a highlight with the Timberline Troubadours.  It's the biggest performance of the year complete with the entire junior high school band and orchestra.
Alli with Shelby after the concert.
NICE PERFORMANCE LADIES!

frog and toad together

These two girls are the cutest best friends. They have enjoyed playing with these frogs for the past year.  In memory of them, they made this sweet sign...I think the girls were a little sad, but felt okay about it because their frogs will always be together.

My Green Smoothie Girl

Anyone for a delicious Green Smoothie?  I finally found a recipe that I like.  I really do.  My kids even liked it and what a superfood!

Here is the recipe:
2 handfuls of spinach
1/2 frozen banana
1/4 cucumber
3 TB vanilla protein powder
1/2 - 3/4 c almond milk
2 t agave
4-6 ice cubes
Add all ingredients and blend until smooth.
Enjoy! Madi did!

the asking...

No school on Monday left a fair amount of time for these 16-year old guys to think of ways to ask girls to the upcoming Prom.  Each one of them came up with a unique way and helped support each other in carrying it out.  I enjoyed watching them run back and forth to the store, wrap boxes, print poems off the computer and plan what they will want to do for their date.  I can't believe this type of "asking" is still going on.

Jake delivered a 25 lb bag of flour with a note that looked like this:

About an hour later, he dropped off a real flower with a note that said 'whoops, wrong flower'.  He left his name inside the petals of the rose.
Now, we just have to wait for the response... It's always fun to see what these kids come up with.

BIRTHDAY TEA TIME!!

Last Saturday, 10 sweet girls played in our home with their fancy dresses, hairdos and painted nails.  Tea time was set to take place in the parlor (piano room) where there was a seat for everyone.

Let the celebration begin!  So fun to see girls smiling, laughing, and dancing around.  What a great time!

I was also fortunate to have 3 assistants helping me with nail art, serving lunches and directing games.

Look who's 9

I really can't believe it, but it's true.  Happy Birthday to a sweet, thoughtful, amazing daughter!   She brightens our home and we just love everything about her.
Riding her new bike so happily and the weather cooperated as well.  Sara was able to ride a few times around the neighborhood and then back and forth to her friends house.  Purple still seems to be her favorite color and she was so surprised that we could find a beach cruiser that fits her size together with the color she loves.

fun fort

Almost every blanket is out of the storage closet and carefully placed over card tables and the ping pong table in hopes to build the masterpiece fort.  I think these girls have done it.  There are nightstands (little chairs) and posh beds inside.  For the last three nights Madi and Sara have slept here. Such fun memories!
These blankets have much history behind them...made by loving Grandmas, Great-Grandmas and Aunts.  There are many former baby blankets and a quilt made by my Grandma for my bed when I was only 10-years old.  Why there is even a blanket made by my college boyfriend who just so happens to be my hubby now. :)
