Party up the Canyon

To celebrate my brother's 50th birthday we all headed up Big Cottonwood Canyon and had a fantastic birthday picnic. Everyone brought something yummy to eat and my mom decorated the site with lots of fun streamers and treats.
This treasure box made all the kids happy (and adults too). Enough candy for everyone to choose anything they wished for. The gold mine bags of bubble gum were the most popular.
Jake scaled up the mountainside and took this cool ariel shot.
Jake's hammock was a hit with these girls!
My brother's motto is "Never Grow Up".  Peter Pan is one of his favorite characters. Happy Birthday Dan! You are still young at heart, but will always be an older brother I look up to.

Happy Birthday Kayli!

How could this gorgeous daughter of mine be turning 25 today? I can't believe it.
Sara worked on decorations for when Kayli and Chris came over for dinner. She made the cutest bubble letters and cut them out individually. Thanks for your thoughtfulness and creativity, Sara.

Kayli loved each one of her gifts, but her favorite had to be...
...The new ipad from Chris and her parents. Woohoo!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY to one amazing daughter, wife, sister, friend and mom-to-be. You are so LOVED!!!

Boys and Ducks

Taryn brought her boys over to see the ducks and we had a great time watching them hold and chase them around the yard. Even Henry was interested in looking, but careful to not get too close.

PF Changs for my birthday!

Thanks for taking us all out for my birthday celebration D. You always make my birthdays special!
Such fun, crazy people in my family. Should have gotten a few more pics of the other side of the table. Good times with my favorite people!!

~ Lots of Cookies ~

Here they are... 154 (count them) frozen chocolate-chip cookie balls for Lake Powell. Handmade and scooped out perfectly by Miss Madi. She really is the BEST cookie maker around!! These will all be enjoyed from the freezer at the lake and perhaps we will even cook some if they make it that long. Thanks Madi for all your help today. This part of the food wouldn't have happened if it wasn't for you.

It's a GIRL!!

Shooting the cannon to reveal the news was Chris's brilliant idea.
Chris and Kayli loaded a front tube full of all kinds of streamers and confetti to explode out.
Pink confetti blasted into the air and all of the pink stars and cute items disappeared.

It truly is a girl and Staci brought these cute pink shoes to give to Kayli.

The blue balloons were just part of the decorations for the night. We had three pink and three blue. As soon as Grandma Karen heard it was a girl, she brought the blue balloons out to Chris and had him launch them into the sky.

Melissa entertained all the girls with her swimming lesson stories...
...and upside down tricks!

Another fun part of the night was when Kayli and Chris opened this bag of girl clothes. Chris and Kayli teach a 9-year old class in our ward and two girls in that class kept texting Kayli all day to know what the baby is. Kayli kept telling them that she would let them know later that night. Right at 9:00 Kayli texted them and told them the news and within 10 minutes Annie and Lucy were at our front door with a bag full of clothes. The cutest part is they are big girl clothes - some in a size 10 - like they just pulled them out of their closet. I really hope their mom's don't mind.
